Explains Sandra Macrory "2009/2010 was an unsettling year for the Players. In August / September 2009 we were suddenly made aware that, after 15 years performing in St Patrick’s Hall, the parish committee were no longer able to accommodate us and, as the Queens Hall is now prohibitively expensive to hire, we found that we no longer had a performance space in Holywood".
Although the Holywood Players are still based at Holywood Yacht Club and will continue to support the town from here, they have found a very comfortable new staging venue in The Web Theatre in Newtownards to which everyone is invited to enjoy their Christmas performance in the run up to Christmas.
Three extremely successful productions have been staged there over the past year.
The Christmas show is to be a revival of a ridiculous comedy called “The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society’s Production of ‘A Christmas Carol’”.
It’s great fun, so why not start the run up to Christmas with a visit to the Web in Newtownards: the show runs on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th December, 8.00pm each evening, tickets £8.00 from the box office on 91828234.
"We have been a bit remiss of late in keeping our web-site and our virtual community up-to date and for this we apologise, but we hope to keep everyone properly up to date from now on... also we would just like everyone to understand why we have had to move production venues".
